This fall, Food Bank of the Rockies partnered with the Denver Broncos to help address food insecurity across our region through a series of impactful community initiatives. From large-scale volunteer events and program sponsorships to Thanksgiving food distributions, the partnership helped ensure families, youth, and individuals had access to nutritious food during a critical time of year.
Denver Broncos and Cigna Healthcare Support 60,000 Meals Across Colorado
The partnership began with a volunteer event at Food Bank of the Rockies’ main distribution center, where Cigna Healthcare and the Denver Broncos volunteered their time and presented a donation to help provide 60,000 nourishing meals for neighbors across Colorado.
The event included support from Miles the Mascot and the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders, who helped pack food boxes and raise awareness about hunger in local communities. Hands-on volunteer efforts like these play a key role in strengthening Colorado’s anti-hunger network.
Broncos Foundation and CommonSpirit Health Support Food Access Programs
Food Bank of the Rockies also received renewed support from the Denver Broncos Foundation and CommonSpirit Health through the Truck Sponsorship Program and Totes of Hope®.
These programs help deliver nutritious food directly to kids and families across our region, including children who may otherwise face barriers to consistent food access. According to Allie Engelken, Vice President of Community Impact and Executive Director of the Denver Broncos Foundation, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to removing barriers to basic needs while reducing stigma around food insecurity.
Denver Broncos Players Support Thanksgiving Food Distributions
During the holiday season, Denver Broncos players helped ensure families could enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
At Thrive Church, Broncos linebacker Nik Bonitto partnered with Food Bank of the Rockies and Safeway for a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway that provided holiday meals to more than 200 families. Safeway donated turkeys, while volunteers helped distribute food directly to neighbors.
In a first-ever partnership, Denver Broncos defensive end Zach Allen supported another Thanksgiving distribution that provided 145 families with turkeys and classic Thanksgiving sides, helping families experience a warm, nourishing holiday meal.
A Community Partnership Focused on Solving the Problem of Hunger
Through volunteering, financial support, and direct food distributions, the Denver Broncos’ partnership with Food Bank of the Rockies demonstrates how community collaboration can make a measurable impact in solving the problem of hunger in our region.
Food Bank of the Rockies is grateful to the Denver Broncos organization, its foundation, players, and corporate partners for helping deliver food, dignity, and hope to neighbors across Colorado.
