Improving Operations to Improve Lives with Food Bank of the Rockies’ New Distribution Center

Above: Food Bank of the Rockies Chief Operating Officer Kelly Green discusses how the current distribution center limits the amount of donated food we are able to accept and distribute, and how the new facility will enable us to greatly expand our capacity to serve more people in our region facing hunger.

Food Bank of the Rockies moved into its current Denver-area distribution center in 2006. Not long after that, we outgrew that space. By a lot.

Now, nearly two decades later, we are taking the necessary step of not only increasing our space, but drastically improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations by constructing a transformative new purpose-built facility.

This winter, Food Bank of the Rockies will move into a 270,000-square-foot distribution center intentionally designed to meet the urgent and growing needs of our neighbors across Colorado and Wyoming — and we are calling on you, our community, to help get the capital campaign to the finish line.

Since 2006, we have quintupled the amount of food we distribute to accommodate the needs of the growing number of neighbors experiencing food insecurity. Hundreds of thousands of our neighbors — more and more each year — are being forced to make impossible decisions between buying enough food to be sustained and paying for life’s other necessities. This is about more than a new building: it’s about ensuring all our neighbors have the food they need to thrive.

Hunger isn’t going away, but with this new distribution center, we can put into place the cornerstone for a brighter future, ensuring every neighbor has the nourishment they need to thrive.

Learn more about our vision for building a hunger-free future in the video up top and at foodbankrockies.org/capital-campaign

We hope you’ll join us in this important work!
