Food Bank of the Rockies needs volunteers all year long to help us with our programs. We're glad you've considered us when seeking a fun, productive activity for you or your group, family and friends! We’d love to have you join us in Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope. Please read the information on this page to see if volunteering is right for you or your group!

Volunteers Needed! If you are not scheduled and want to volunteer in Denver, please read the information below and fill out the appropriate online form to get started. We recommend scheduling your volunteer time at least two weeks in advance. We have limited staff and will get back with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience. Please note, thanks to our generous volunteers, our Denver Saturday schedule is filled through 2010. Please check back in August, 2010 for a calendar of Saturday opportunities in 2011. If we can't accommodate your Saturday request, we encourage you to come volunteer with us another time!
Most opportunities are Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 11:30 and 12:30 - 3:30, Tuesdays - 4:00 - 7:00 pm and select Saturdays (full until 2011)

Distribution Filling orders; Light cleaning; Shopping Ambassador; Many warehouse jobs require lifting 15 - 20 pounds repetitively and up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Office (Occasionally available) Computer data input; Filing; Assisting with mailings; Preparing information packets

Reclamation (Denver Warehouse Monday thru Wednesday, Friday and select Saturdays) Sorting, sanitizing, inspecting and boxing food and non-food products; Light cleaning
USDA Groups of 10 - 30 pack government food boxes for distribution in an assembly line setting.

Important Information:
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old (accompanied by an adult) or 16 years old to volunteer on their own.
Come dressed appropriately for warehouse work. This includes wearing: Closed toed shoes, (no sandals please - comfort is also important - you'll be on your feet for several hours) and shirts with sleeves (no halters or mid-drift shirts please.)
Court ordered volunteers MUST fill out our online form to get started. We will consider misdemeanor court ordered community service on a case-by-case basis.
Parking:
Watch for the big Food Bank of the Rockies sign and turn into our parking lot at 10700 E. 45th Ave., just north of I-70 and east of Havana, between Embassy Suites and Denver Mattress. For a map to Food Bank of the Rockies' Denver warehouse, click here. Drive past the Agency parking and park on the east side of our building between the Volunteer Parking signs. Enter at your shift start time through the Volunteer Entrance (you'll see the sign). Follow the yellow line on the floor to the center of our warehouse. There you'll see a table where you can sign-in. Have a seat and we'll put you to work shortly!

The Western Slope Branch is particularly in need of assistance in the afternoon, and volunteer hours are flexible. Volunteers mainly help in the warehouse filling orders, doing light cleaning and occasional office work at our facility at 734 Scarlet Drive; Grand Junction, CO
