Winter Apple Crumble

Filling
 10 Granny Smith apples
 4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
 ¾ cup brown sugar
 4 tbsp butter
Syrup
 ¾ cup brown sugar
 ¼ cup hot water
 Juice of 1/2 lemon

1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch pan.
3. Peel, core, and slice apples into ½-inch slices.
4. Toss apples in 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice.
5. Arrange apple slices in the bottom of a lightly greased pan.
6. Mix flour, brown sugar, and remaining pumpkin pie spice. Pinch in butter to flour mixture with hands until crumbly and combined. Set aside. Small bits of butter are okay to have left in the flour mixture.
7. Combine the syrup ingredients and stir well.
8. Drizzle half of syrup mixture over apples.
9. Cover apples with flour/butter mix and pour remaining syrup on top.
10. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
