Two Wheels and a Big Heart – Richie Crowley brings healthy food to Colorado

Richie Crowley rode his bike to our warehouse on September 10. That might not sound like a big deal, until you learn Richie came to Denver from Boston, via Brooklyn, Cleveland and St. Louis. He’s on his way to Las Vegas and eventually to his final destination, Los Angeles. His Wellness Ride, sponsored by Veestro, provided more than 300 healthy, plant-based meals to Food Bank of the Rockies.

Richie rides to raise awareness about hunger and help organizations like Food Bank of the Rockies feed, educate and empower neighbors struggling with hunger. He encourages others to commit to their own wellness during his 85-day ride.

Healthy eating was the gateway to Richie’s own wellness journey. He knows it’s important for others to access nutritious food. “As I look across the country, if there are individuals who currently are less fortunate than me and are not able to access healthy, delicious food, it doesn’t sit well. I wanted to create an impact with the community that mobilized the country, to help those who are less fortunate,” he tells us.

Richie has faced tornadoes, rain, heat, and flat tires. He’s met some wonderfully supportive people along the way. And a tail wind helped him arrive in Colorado ahead of schedule. Richie plans to be in Los Angeles October 11 or maybe even earlier.

Thank you, Richie, for sharing your energy to feed people across the country facing hunger. You are inspirational and we appreciate your enthusiasm and tenacity.
