Mom always said breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Teachers agree! Sadly, for 1 in 7 children in Colorado, food insecurity could mean skipping this vital meal.
Since 2016, Food Bank of the Rockies has receiving generous funding from Hunger Is, a grant from Albertsons Companies Foundation. These funds have allowed us to provide more than 250,000 breakfasts to children in our Totes of Hope® program.
Cereal, milk, juice and other nourishing nonperishable items are packed in totes for the kids to take home over the weekend when school meals aren’t available. This helps ensure these children have the nutrition they need to learn when they come back to school on Monday.
