Hunger Relief…One Chicken at a Time

What recently brought together FBR & Kroenke Sports staff, Colorado Rapids players, over 30 hunger relief organizations & a slew of dedicated volunteers? Chicken. A whole bunch of chicken.

For the past 4 years Lift Up America has partnered with Tyson Foods Inc. & Kroenke Sports to help bring the gift of food to the less fortunate in Metro Denver. This donation of 15 tons of chicken is definitely one that FBR & select partner agencies get excited about!

This is how it works….a Tyson truck arrives at a Kroenke stadium, loaded with endless pallets of chicken. Representatives from Lift Up America, the Mayor’s office, FBR, Tyson Chicken & Kroenke Sports speak about the importance of what’s happening that day. By that point, hunger relief agencies have lined up their trucks in the parking lot, waiting to be filled with much needed chicken. For the next few hours FBR staff, athletes & volunteers load the chicken in each waiting truck. The agencies drive away and serve that chicken to neighbors in need. It’s a whirlwind of a day…a really good whirlwind.

This year’s event went off without a hitch on October 21st at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Colorado Rapids players and mascot were on hand to assist the efforts. Thanks to everyone involved in making this another awesome year!
