Last year WSFBR distributed 1.77 million pounds of food and essential items. That equals 1,387,000 total meals or 3,800 meals each day for our less fortunate neighbors in need of a helping hand.
In 2000, WSFBR built a warehouse designed to better serve hunger-relief programs in the region. Last year, WSFBR distributed dry, frozen and refrigerated food, as well as non-food items to 153 local hunger-relief programs serving people in need on the Western Slope.
To reach children in need, WSFBR opened its first Kids Cafe site in July 2004. The Kids Cafe program provides hot, nutritious after-school meals during the school year and hot lunches during school breaks to low income children 6 to 18 years of age. The menus are based on USDA nutrition guidelines.
Hours of Operation (agency warehouse hours):

Western Slope, Events:

It's that time of year again. Thanks to the Grand Valley Disc Golf Club for their support to feed those less fortunate. In 2008 they raised $8,000 in cash and 1,500lbs in food goods for the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies. They were 6th in the nation! Help them do it again this year and try to get into the top five!
When: February 13th, 2010, 10am check in, 11:30 is the tee off. Get there at check in!
Where: Riverbend Disc Golf Park, Palisade, Colorado
Details and Registration can be found at Triple Play Records, on Main Street, Downtown Grand Junction.
Why: To raise food and money for the local food banks. People need this more than ever. Format is going to be random Pro-Am doubles.
The after party is very important this year and will be held at the Palisade Brewery.
A silent auction of some really great stuff will be there to help raise even more money for the Food Bank.
So please come to the after party and bid on some items. See you there!

Where can I find help on the Western Slope?
Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies distributes food through our partner agencies. We do not distribute food directly to the public. If you are in need of food assistance in Mesa County please contact Western Colorado 211 directly either by dialing -211- from a landline or 1(888)217-1215 from a mobile phone. You may also download this brochure of emergency assistance programs in the Grand Valley. If you are outside of Mesa County, we are happy to help you with a referral. Please contact our WS Agency Relations Specialist so we can help refer you to an appropriate agency.
Would you like to volunteer?
The Western Slope Branch is particularly in need of assistance in the afternoon, and volunteer hours are flexible. Volunteers mainly help in the warehouse filling orders, doing light cleaning and occasional office work at our facility at 734 Scarlet Drive; Grand Junction, CO 81505
