Our Commitment to Your Privacy and Security
Food Bank of the Rockies is committed to protecting your privacy and the security of any personal information that you share with us. This Privacy Policy describes the kind of information we may collect from you, how that information is used, and what kinds of security measures we employ on our Web site and in the management of our databases. We will not sell, share, or rent the information you provide to us in any way that is not specified in this policy. Information We Collect and Use
Food Bank of the Rockies requests information from you at various points on our Web site and when you make a donation to the organization. You are under no obligation to provide any information via our site or otherwise. However, in order to participate in some of the services we offer, such information is necessary. Below is a brief summary of how your personal information is used. Because we constantly strive to bring new and better services to the community, the list below may not reflect all of the most current service offerings for which information is collected. We will do our best to update this policy as we provide new services, so please check back often.
- Volunteers- Volunteers are critical to fulfilling our mission. When you become a volunteer for Food Bank of the Rockies, we ask you to provide us with your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, emergency contact, as well as information about your availability and volunteer interests. We enter this information into our volunteer database so that we may contact you in connection with our volunteer activities. In order for all of our volunteers to stay informed about our activities and events, we send occasional newsletters and updates. These updates may include our donor newsletter, Lifeline, our agency newsletter, The Bank Statement, as well as various communications via e-mail. If you are receiving electronic communications from Food Bank of the Rockies and decide that you no longer wish to receive them, each communication contains instructions to unsubscribe from our distribution list.
- Donations-When you make a financial donation to Food Bank of the Rockies, we ask that you provide your name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, and if applicable, credit card information. We use a secure third party to process your donation. See the section of this policy on Information Sharing for more information on how we share your information with third parties. When you make a donation of $500 or more, you will be added to our database to receive our Lifeline newsletter for the period of one year, and possibly longer.
- Lifeline Newsletter-When you subscribe to receive our newsletter, we ask for your name, mailing address, and e-mail address, you may unsubscribe at any time by going to www.foodbankrockies.org/news.cfm or by e-mail at info@foodbankrockies.org.
Computer Information
We collect the following information about your computer configuration: browser type, operating system, IP address, and the URL of the Web page you were on prior to visiting Food Bank of the Rockies. We use this information to analyze usage trends, administer the site, and track our users' movements across our site for aggregate uses. This information will not reveal, nor is it associated with your personal identity.
Information Sharing
Food Bank of the Rockies respects the privacy of our donors, volunteers, and friends. We will never sell, rent, or otherwise share the names and/or contact information of our donors and supporters with any third party not directly affiliated with us. We do occasionally contract with outside vendors for market research, fundraising, and promotional support that directly benefits Food Bank of the Rockies. In these instances, our database is held in the strictest confidence.
We might notify you about an outside event or cause that we feel is worthy of your consideration or that indirectly benefits Food Bank of the Rockies. This contact will always be managed by Food Bank staff or an authorized vendor. For example, we might conduct the mailing of a brochure promoting a national hunger relief organization. We will not release our mailing list to that organization, but will conduct the mailing on their behalf.
We use outside companies to process many of our charitable donations. These companies do not retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing us with processing services. Prior to donating online, you will have the opportunity to review that company's privacy and security policy.
Other Uses and Disclosures of Information
Although unlikely, Food Bank of the Rockies may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide personal information about our users. We will provide this information, to the extent technically possible upon request and receipt of the appropriate documentation. Disclosure may also occur if we consider it necessary to protect our legal rights, or if the information relates to threatened or actual harmful conduct.
Access and the Ability to Correct Your Information
Food Bank of the Rockies stores the information you provide upon registration at our site and for our various services and databases. If your contact information changes, or if you no longer wish to volunteer or receive our newsletters, please let us know at info@foodbankrockies.org.
Privacy of Children
Food Bank of the Rockies' Web site is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not intend to collect, maintain, store, use, or disclose personal information about children under the age of 13.
Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will post a notice of those changes on the Privacy Policy section of our Web site so that you will always have notice of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the Privacy Policy under which the information was collected. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner incompatible with the stated purposes at the time it was collected, we will post a prominent notification of the change in policy on our Web site.
Security
Food Bank of the Rockies operates a secure data network provided by industry standard firewalls and password protection systems. Only authorized individuals have access to the information provided by our customers. Any other particularly sensitive information, such as a donor credit card numbers, is also encrypted prior to transmission. Although Food Bank of the Rockies operates a secure data network, no Internet transmission can be guaranteed 100% secure. However minimal, you use this site and its services at your own risk.
