Hunger Relief Partner Requirements

To become a Hunger Relief Partner, your program must meet these criteria:

  • Have 501(c)3 federal nonprofit tax-exempt status, and a copy of your or a parent organization’s 501(c)3 must be attached to your application. (Food Bank of the Rockies provides exceptions for certain religious organizations.)
  • Provide food to people experiencing hunger.
  • Have a Federal Employer Identification Number.
  • Have adequate dry, cooler, and freezer storage to ensure wholesomeness of food until used or redistributed.

Eligible Site Requirements:

  • Have 501(c)3 federal nonprofit/public charity status
  • Churches (only) who do not possess a 501(c)3 status, please contact Partner Relations for 14 Point application
  • Have a Federal Employer Identification Number
  • Provide food assistance to the ill, people in need, and/or children
  • Funding resources to cover ASF (Agency Support Fee)
  • Adequate dry, refrigeration and freezer storage space
  • Staffing to perform client intake, and food distribution process
  • Vehicle capacity to pick up product from Food Bank of the Rockies warehouse and transport to organization location
  • Delivery to rural sites available


Client Eligibility Requirements:

  • Colorado resident
  • Varies by site:  Photo ID, proof of residency, or self-declaration of need

 

Hunger Relief Partner Site Resources:

Eligible Site Requirements:

  • Clients are children (18 years of age or younger)
  • Prefer sites capable of serving 5 days a week
  • Sites must be located in an area where 50%+ local children are qualified for Free/Reduced Lunch
  • Sites must conduct an afterschool activity for children
  • Structured activity is not required but encouraged for summer meals
  • Provide area in which children may consume snacks or meals on-site
  • Adequate dry and refrigeration storage; hand washing facility
  • Staffing to perform client intake and food distribution process
  • Vehicle capacity to pick up product from Food Bank of the Rockies warehouse and transport to organization location
  • Delivery to rural sites available
  • Food Bank of the Rockies prefers sites committed to serving meals year round (school year and summer)


Client Eligibility Requirements:

  • Children 18  years  of age or younger
  • Resides in local area or participates in afterschool enrichment program

 

Child and Adult Care Food Program Site Resources:

  • Organization’s primary mission is serving children (18 years of age or younger)
  • Prefer sites to be located in an area where 50%+ local children are qualified for Free/Reduced Lunch
  • Adequate dry storage
  • Staffing to perform client intake and food distribution process
  • Vehicle capacity to pick up product from Food Bank of the Rockies warehouse and transport to organization location

Child and Adult Care Food Program Site Resources:

  • Majority of your clients are older adults (60+ years of age)
  • Classified as a food pantry & the Emergency Food Assistance Program distribution site (preferred)
  • Adequate dry and refrigeration storage
  • Staffing to perform client certification/intake process and distribution of food boxes
  • Vehicle capacity to pick up product from Food Bank of the Rockies warehouse and transport to organization location
  • Delivery to rural sites available


Client Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a Colorado Resident; 60+ years of age
  • Provide proof of ID and address
  • Combined gross income does not exceed 130% of current federal poverty level
  • Homebound clients may receive assistance via direct delivery and/or proxy (having someone pick up on clients’ behalf) – please contact Food Bank of the Rockies staff for more information


Commodity Supplemental Food Program Site Resources:

    Prefer active Food Bank of the Rockies Hunger Relief Partner for a minimum of 6 months
  • Classified as a food pantry and/or soup kitchen
  • Adequate dry, frozen and refrigeration storage
  • Staffing to perform client certification/intake process
  • Vehicle capacity to pick up product from Food Bank of the Rockies warehouse and transport to organization location
  • Delivery to rural sites available


Client Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a Colorado resident; provide proof of ID & address
  • Household members must receive some form of public assistance or have a gross monthly
  • Income that does not exceed 185% of current federal poverty level.

To apply to become a Hunger Relief Partner, please download and submit our Programs Application and send to Food Bank of the Rockies or email to LaDonna Valenzuela.

The application process, which typically takes 6-8 weeks, is outlined below.

  • Application is reviewed and assessed by Food Bank of the Rockies Programs Director and then forwarded to the appropriate Division, based on clientele served.
  • Some service areas may have adequate coverage with existing Hunger Relief Partners. In such case, your application will be placed on a “waitlist” and/or you will be contacted to discuss alternative options to assist the area with hunger-relief.
  • Food Bank of the Rockies may request your organization assist another Hunger Relief Partner in the same area or request your participation in assisting with unserved older adults and children in the area.
  • Food Bank of the Rockies staff will schedule an appointment to visit your organization. This partner review will allow for Food Bank of the Rockies to inspect food storage/food prep areas, offer best practice suggestions on distribution processes, and discuss Food Bank of the Rockies procedures and compliance regulations.
  • Application and completed site visit review forms will be submitted to program managers at Food Bank of the Rockies for partnership approval.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
