Protein, Right in Time for the Holidays

Our friends at Tyson and Lift Up America have made it their mission to provide nourishment for people in need across our nation.  We're grateful to be included in their annual donation events! These events are definitely a community effort.  Adding to the spirit of the holidays, representatives from many philanthropic Denver groups met at Pepsi Center on December 13 for a festive afternoon of giving.

We were joined by folks from Tyson Foods, Inc., Lift Up America,  Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, Denver Nuggets dancers, Rocky the mascot, Nuggets ambassadors, Mark Randall, Walter Davis and Ervin Johson,  Colorado Ave's assistant coach, Tim Army and mascot Bernie, Colorado Rapids players, Chris Sharpe, Marvell Wynne and mascot Edson, Southern Hospitality, Colorado Mammoth head coach, Bob Hamlet and Altitude Sports & Entertainment's Brian Engblom, Marc Moser, Julie Browman, Kyle Keefe and Todd Romero.  What a group!  We had plenty of volunteer hands to help load chicken into the vehicles of 50 hunger relief agencies.   As they pulled up they were promptly loaded to the brim with much needed protein for the clients they serve.  Right in time for the holidays!

Over the past five years, FBR been able to distribute an astounding 170,000 pounds of chicken to agency partners through Tyson, Lift Up America and Kroenke. We look forward to this event each year and appreciate the opportunity to be a recipient of a community effort that fights hunger in such a significant way!

Colorado Companies Going the Extra Mile

In the past month, we've had the honor or working with two Colorado companies we'd like to highlight.  These folks have displayed their dedication to fighting hunger in our communities.

Many corporate partners incorporate matching gifts through their employee giving programs.  This has been an incredible source of giving for FBR over the years.  Encana recently reminded us just how powerful matching programs can be when they gifted us with a check for $37,000!  The result of Encana's corporate and individual generosity will provide 148,000 meals to Coloradans in need.

In addition to Encana, we were also gifted with a check for $20,000 (and counting) from our friends at Halliburton and many others in the gas and oil industry.  Each year the industry here in Colorado gathers for a tailgating party/fundraiser.  This year they met up on November 18th to celebrate our Denver Broncos and give back to FBR and two additional designated charity partners.  The gifts continue to roll in from that amazing day of giving.

THANKS to all those making a difference through corporate giving.  We value you so very much!

Bryan Haubert with Halliburton took time out to tour our facility and deliver the checks collected at the Halliburton Tailgating Party.

A KBCO Tradition Continues Fighting Hunger

For the fourth year, FBR was chosen alongside Boulder County Aids Project to be gifted with the proceeds from KBCO's remarkably successful  tradition of selling Studio C CD's.  On Saturday, December 1st, dedicated KBCO'ers lined up (some camped out) outside Furniture Row Paul's TV locations around town in order to get their hands on these coveted CD's.  Some of these folks have been doing this for 24 years and own the entire collection.  We send volunteers and staff to each location to help out and join in the excitement of the morning.

We spent some time with Bret Saunders, Robyn Hart and Scott Arbough in Lone Tree that morning.  KBCO people?  They're top notch.  We're so honored to work alongside them and incredibly grateful for all they do to fight hunger and feed hope.  We're listening to the CD today- are you?
